Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Nobel places significant emphasis on the social and emotional development of its students, fostering character transformation alongside academic excellence. The curriculum integrates character education, promoting values such as responsibility, empathy, and kindness. The school offers emotional well-being and pastoral care services, with trained counselors providing support, mentoring, and a safe space for students. Initiatives like the "Character Strengths Recognition (CSR) programme" and various resources aim to develop resilience, positive coping skills, and healthy relationships among students.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school provides support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through an inclusive approach where all teachers are considered "teachers of SEND." The school aims to meet individual needs through differentiated instruction within regular classrooms.

The school has a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) who works with staff to identify students requiring additional support. Specific provisions include a Learning Support Room for withdrawal lessons and a unit for students with behavioral difficulties. They support various SEN needs, including Specific Learning Difficulty, Moderate Learning Difficulty, Speech, Language or Communication Difficulty, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Hearing Impairment, Vision Impairment, Physical Disability, and Social, Emotional and Mental health. While the school welcomes applications from students with mobility difficulties, it does not have complete wheelchair access. It is not a specialist SEN institution but integrates support within its mainstream educational framework.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The supports students with English as an Additional Language requirements through remedial classes for those in need of language support. This approach helps students develop English proficiency across the curriculum, fostering their academic and social integration.

Mental Wellbeing

The school places significant emphasis on the mental wellbeing of its students, providing emotional support and pastoral care services through trained counsellors who offer counselling and mentoring. Various programs and resources are in place to help students develop resilience, positive coping skills, and healthy relationships. Key initiatives include the "Character Strengths Recognition (CSR) programme" and the encouragement of principles aligned with the "5 Ways to Wellbeing" to foster self-esteem and a nurturing environment.

Safeguarding

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students, expecting all staff and volunteers to uphold this commitment. The school strives to create an environment where students feel secure and are encouraged to voice concerns, knowing they will be listened to. Safeguarding is managed through a comprehensive Child Protection Policy and established procedures, which are updated and reviewed annually. The school has a dedicated Safeguarding team to ensure policies are implemented and concerns are addressed in partnership with relevant agencies when necessary.
