Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Seven Skies International School was established in 2014 by Dr. Tawfique Chowdhury, the founder of the Mercy Mission movement. The school is independently funded and was created to provide an education that integrates the Cambridge curriculum with Islamic studies and character development.

Community

The school fosters a community feel through various events. For example, they host an annual "SSI Fajar Run" and a "100 Heroes of Islam" exhibition, which are open to the school community and the public. They also hold regular Open Days for prospective families to tour the campus and learn about the school's programs.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school has a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to facilitate communication and collaboration between parents and teachers. The school emphasizes regular engagement with parents to share their child's progress and experiences, and uses a portal to keep parents updated on their child's attendance, report cards, and other announcements.

Seven Skies Islamic International School offers a structured educational path for students aged 4 to 16. The curriculum begins with the UK's Early Years Foundation Stage, progresses to the UK National Syllabus for primary years, and culminates in the Cambridge IGCSE for secondary students. The school’s facilities include a science lab, an ICT lab, a library, an art room, and a prayer hall. A distinctive aspect of the school is its "Character Development" program. This is a core component of the curriculum that runs alongside academic studies. It includes modules on leadership, emotional intelligence, and financial literacy, as well as an annual "Social Theme" project. This project requires students to research and propose solutions to real-world social issues. Another notable initiative is the annual "100 Heroes of Islam" exhibition, which showcases the lives and contributions of significant Muslim figures throughout history.
