Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

St. John's International School was established in 2010 as a privately-funded institution. It is an extension of the long-standing St. John's Institution, a landmark in Malaysian education since 1904. The school is held by St. John's International Edu Group Sdn. Bhd. and maintains a strong association with the De La Salle Brothers, continuing the Lasallian tradition of education in Malaysia. This connection provides a foundation rooted in a history of educational service.

Community

The school community is made up of students from over 25 different nationalities, creating a diverse cultural environment. SJIS holds regular "Open Day" events for prospective families, which include interactive workshops. These events are designed to be family-friendly and showcase the school's various programs and activities, encouraging participation from both parents and potential students.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school does not publish information about an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) or a similar parent-led group for the primary campus

The campus is located next to the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, providing a uniquely green and calm setting for young learners. The curriculum follows the Cambridge Primary pathway, establishing foundational skills in core subjects like English, Mathematics, and Science. Pupils also use the school's shared sports facilities, which include a football field and courts for various games. A defining characteristic of the school is its affiliation with the De La Salle Brothers, which introduces an ethos focused on character development from an early age. This heritage is integrated into the school's daily life, alongside academic learning.
