Straits International School Rawang was established in 2018, becoming the second campus in the Straits International School family, following the first in Penang. The school was acquired by the International Schools Partnership (ISP) in 2021, joining a global network of schools. This partnership provides the school with access to international educational resources and expertise, while maintaining its commitment to providing a British-based curriculum within a Malaysian context.
The school fosters a diverse community, with students from numerous countries. A core part of its community structure is a traditional House System, which organises friendly competition through a year-long calendar of sporting, academic, and arts-related events. This sense of community is also highlighted through school-wide events. These include "International Day," where families celebrate the different cultures within the school, and the "Straits Star Search" talent competition.
The school’s parent community group is known as STEPS (Supporting Teamwork and Engagement among Parents at SIS). This group serves as a platform for collaboration between parents and the school's management team. STEPS holds meetings where parents can share insights and discuss ideas aimed at enhancing the student learning experience and the overall school environment. To further encourage parent connection and community, the school has also opened a dedicated Parent Café on campus. This space provides a physical location for parents to meet and is open daily during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.
