Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Founded in scholastic year 1905/1906 by Miss Ethel Yabsley and Miss Madeleine Sceberras, Chiswick House School originally intended for the children of British families stationed in Malta. In 1962, Chiswick House School moved to Windsor Terrace, Sliema, and established itself as a distinguished educational institution; ownership passed to Mrs Yvonne Mangion and the Mangion family, who expanded the school in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1991 the school relocated to Kappara under joint headship of Bernie Mizzi and Marguerite Mangion, with Middle and Senior School classes reintroduced in 1992, alongside the construction of St Martin's College in Swatar. From 2000 onward, Bernie Mizzi led CHSMC as Director; the Mangion family continues to own and run the schools. Today CHSMC is Malta's largest independent educational establishment, educating pupils from Malta and over 30 other countries, with English as the main language of instruction.

Community

St Martin's College community participates in charitable initiatives such as Puttinu Cares, L-Istrina, and Hospice Malta. Students have been recognised at national events, including the Reading Champions Awards during the Malta Book Festival, and the English Department hosts cultural events such as a Jane Austen soirée. Langfest at St Martin's College celebrated language, culture, and creativity. Student leadership is fostered through the Sixth Form Student Council and other council activities, including Bonding Day.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parents are viewed as keen collaborators in all school activities and essential stakeholders throughout their children's Early, Junior, Middle, Senior and Sixth Form years. Parents' meetings are organised early in the scholastic year. Email updates are sent regularly to parents. Parents are invited to Parent Workshops where educational topics are discussed. Two Parents' Days are organised each year.
