San Andrea School was founded in 1992 at Sedqa, Independence Avenue, Naxxar by the Parents' Foundation for Education, which also founded San Anton School. The Foundation was formed by parents in the mid-1980s, and the notarial deed launching it was published on 2 July 1988. At the time the school consisted of three classes. Today it is situated in the middle of the Maltese countryside and comprises three buildings: Early Sector, Middle Sector and Senior Sector, each adapted to a specific age group.
San Andrea School participates in community and national events, such as the Malta School Games torch passing at Ta' Qali on February 13, 2026, with students carrying the torch back to school in a display of teamwork and national pride. The school has a Student Council with members from across year groups who are listed on the Student Council page. An Extra Curricular Programme is offered to Nursery to Grade 11, and MySchool provides an online management system for parents and students to view homework diaries, feedback, and upcoming events.
The Parents' Foundation for Education was formed by parents in the mid-1980s to create an independent school, with the notarial public deed giving birth to the Foundation published on 2 July 1988. The Foundation financed the establishment of the School. The School Board is a parent-led body responsible for policy, governance, administration and development of the School. It appoints auditors, oversees finances and assets, and ensures the School operates in line with Foundation aims, with a current Board composed of ten parent members and led by a Chairperson (e.g., Dr Nicholas Valenzia) and supported by ad-hoc specialist committees.
