LLB provides a continuous program from primary to the final year of high school (ages 5–18), culminating in the baccalaureate. The main language of instruction is French, with English playing an important role from elementary school onwards; the International British Section is offered from Grade 1. Five foreign languages are taught (English, Spanish, German, Mandarin, and Russian), with European and International Sections available. The baccalaureate pass rate is 100%.
The school offers Arts Plastiques and Theatre options; Chant choral is also available as part of the arts program. The theatre program includes student productions and performances, including Caudan Arts Centre events and exchanges such as Saint-Malo.
English is taught through the International British Section or the European Section. The school offers five languages: English, Spanish, German, Mandarin, and Russian. The International British Section leads to the OIB diploma and Cambridge certifications.
Debate Club organizes monthly debates in French and English. Aeronautics Club offers hands-on activities and flight simulations. Ambassadeurs en herbe develops public-speaking and debating skills through AEFE-affiliated events.
The Association des parents d'élèves (APE) represents parents on governance and co-manages a solidarity fund to support families in need. APE meetings occur regularly with the school leadership. LL B Alumni networking events connect graduates with current students and potential employers.
Leadership and professional development are fostered through student-run clubs, including Debate Club and JOJO (Jeunes Officiels/Jeunes Organisateurs), which organize events and develop leadership skills. Stages en entreprise (internships) are part of the orientation program to expose lycée students to professional environments. Alumni networking events provide opportunities to connect graduates with current students and employers.
Physical education is compulsory and a daily aspect of school life, with major sporting events such as the college cross, inter-college, and inter-lycée days. Well-being is promoted as a core part of daily life and EPS activities. Avançons Ensemble provides inclusive support for students with special needs.
Lycée La Bourdonnais is Mauritius' long‑standing French‑programme school, AEFE‑conventioned and accredited by the French Ministry of Education. It serves ages 5 to 18 with a continuous path from kindergarten to terminale and a 100% baccalaureate pass rate. French is the main language of instruction, with English playing a central role from primary school onward. From CP, the British Section strengthens English language learning. The school offers a plurilingual curriculum with French and English as core languages and additional offerings in Spanish, German, Mandarin and Russian. English is taught through two tracks: the International British Section and the European Section. The International British Section combines the French Baccalaureate with two English A Levels and leads to the OIB, while also enabling Cambridge examinations and a French Ministry diploma. The European Section focuses on English, History and Geography. The Avançons Ensemble program supports inclusive education. The campus at Forest-Side hosts a Centre de Documentation et d'Information (CDI), and the school has trained about 8,630 graduates with around 82 secondary teachers.
