The American School of Puerto Vallarta (ASPV) was founded in 1986 to provide an American education in Puerto Vallarta that would prepare students for university abroad. ASPV is a nonprofit, independent private school offering a bilingual, bicultural education from early childhood through high school. The school operates in a small private-school environment, guided by educators from the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and other countries, with a student body of over 350 students. The school offers a comprehensive dual curriculum taught by our highly qualified educators from these countries. ASPV is accredited by SAIS, Cognia, the Mexican Ministry of Education (SEP), and UNAM.
At ASPV, service and sustainability are core values that shape the student experience from K1 to 12. Students participate in year‑round initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, collaborating with NGOs, local associations, and public schools to turn learning into action. The annual Sustainability Fair showcases student-driven environmental and social impact projects and invites NGOs, local organizations, and community leaders to engage in dialogue and collaboration. Service Day is observed once a year, with Middle and High School students undertaking projects such as mentoring children, supporting NGOs, renovating public spaces, and participating in environmental initiatives. STEM+ Outreach extends learning beyond campus by connecting students with local public schools through hands-on activities and mentoring to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators.
The ASPV Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) provides ongoing support to the school through time, energy, and resources, strengthening the community by organizing events, fundraising, and backing school initiatives. The PTA is acknowledged in the 2023‑2024 annual report for its steadfast dedication to improving the educational experience for students, teachers, and families. The report notes eight years of fundraising that have transformed the campus, including finishing touches on the STEM+ Center and the installation of a new elevator to enhance accessibility. The Master Plan's next phase includes a state‑of‑the‑art Media Center and HUB multimedia space to expand digital resources and involve parents through workshops and Shark Chats.
