Historically, the Colegio Alemán Alexander von Humboldt A.C. was founded in 1894 by German immigrants to offer education in German and to preserve language and culture. From the early 20th century, curricula were implemented that were officially recognized by both Mexican and German education authorities; kindergarten German learning began in 1898, girls gained access to coeducation in higher grades in 1914, and the school was one of the first to have a swimming pool in 1925. Today, the school has more than 130 years of educational work in Mexico and is part of a global network of 135 German international schools. It is bicultural and trilingual, preserves traditions, and is committed to progress, with Spanish and German spoken as mother tongues and English taught to a high level. It aims to teach knowledge of Mexican and German history and culture to provide a comprehensive view of both countries, enabling students to engage with other cultures and fostering universal tolerance and the spirit of international peace and solidarity.
Community: The Humboldt community engages across three campuses (Nord, West, Süd) and hosts a range of cultural and community events. Carnival: Two Cultures, One Heart features elaborate costumes, German and Mexican music, dance and shared festivities. Humboldt-MUN 2026 brought together more than 120 students from our three Humboldt schools and other institutions to act as diplomats. Other activities include the Parties, Friends, Decisions and Their Consequences conference addressing youth issues; Power for a Good Cause charity sports events supporting the Compartir nos Une project; and Jugend präsentiert, a competition where students explain topics in German. The Reforma newspaper ranked the school No. 1 in Mexico City in 2026.
Parent involvement: The school and its bodies ensure the involvement of guardians in school life. Guardians have the opportunity, subject to the provisions of the school's statutes, to become a member of the School Association (Schulverein) and participate in shaping the school. There is also the possibility of serving in class parent councils and in a School Parents Association (Asociación de Padres de Familia - APF).
