ISOM offers after-school activities in Chess and Robotics. Chess emphasizes discipline, concentration, and strategy as students learn through games and challenges and compete in internal and external tournaments. Robotics develops programming, innovation, and teamwork as students build and program a robot to perform tasks ranging from movement to color detection and simulations such as dance or soccer. Students work in teams, taking on roles like programmers, mechanics, organizers, and leaders to practice collaboration and problem-solving.
ISOM offers after-school Arts activities in Dance, Choir, and Violin. Dance classes introduce ballet, jazz, and contemporary technique with practice, rehearsals, and choreography. The choir builds listening skills and vocal harmony, with twice-weekly sessions and semester concerts. Violin instruction develops musical motor and auditory skills for beginners to advanced players.
ISOM's foreign language program lets students learn a third language beyond English and Spanish. French and Japanese courses are offered twice a week after school for all students, with emphasis on speaking, listening, reading, and writing and incorporating cultural context to broaden global perspectives.
MakerSpace is a collaborative workshop promoting creativity, problem-solving, and 21st-century skills, with activities such as Medialab, Lego, digital fabrication, fashion design, and electronics. The space is equipped with high-tech tools including a 3D printer and laser cutter for student projects. The school also hosts social clubs and events, including Pet Club and other values-driven activities, with opportunities to showcase talents through competitions and performances.
ISOM runs a Service Social program in partnership with foundations to raise funds, volunteer, and build social awareness. Students participate in service projects throughout the year and contribute to ISOM's anti-bullying and inclusive education initiatives.
ISOM offers Sports Activities with twice-weekly training in soccer and basketball; teams represent the school in inter-school tournaments and regional/state competitions, with participation contingent on attendance, academic performance, and conduct. A Positive Discipline program supports student development with active measures such as active group observation, reflective guidance, individualized support, and tailored plans. An Anti-bullying campaign promotes a safe school environment and healthy social climate.
International School of Monterrey (ISOM) is a bilingual, secular, inclusive, student-centered institution serving ages 3 to 15, from Kinder to High School. The school offers an Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum in its upper grades, complemented by academies in Mathematics, Sciences, Technologies, and Arts and Cultures, all taught in English. An English Academy focuses on English Language Arts and English as a Foreign Language, while a third language program (French or Japanese) runs after school twice weekly. The Project for Activation of the Intelligences (PAI) engages primary students to develop cognitive, affective and motor skills and multiple intelligences.
