Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

ISOM emphasizes values and social participation as part of its learning model. Students learn and practice personal and social development through Valores y Participación Social. They engage in ISOM's Servicio Social with partner foundations, contributing to fundraising, volunteering and social awareness. They contribute to a healthy school environment through the ISOM Anti-bullying program. Positive Discipline supports student development with self-regulation and reflective practice, and a school-based guidance approach provides ongoing support and feedback to students.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school has an Inclusive Education Department to support diversity, guiding attention to the needs of all students and developing individualized education plans based on psychological, clinical and pedagogical knowledge. They design and apply strategies that foster development in empathetic, welcoming environments. Curriculum is adapted based on information from specialists; the department coordinates follow-up with external therapists and offers family accompaniment and ongoing support to parents.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school has a foreign language program in addition to English and Spanish. ISOM offers a third language option, currently French and Japanese, with classes held twice a week outside the regular school day.

Mental Wellbeing

The Psychology Department supports student wellbeing and development through Positive Discipline, which promotes self-regulation and motivation. The program includes active group observation, timely reflection and individualized attention, with interventions tailored to students' needs and ongoing follow-up and feedback.

Safeguarding

ISOM has an active Anti-bullying Campaign that promotes a healthy, safe school environment and safeguards the safety and integrity of students; the program includes periodic talks, a reporting mailbox, anti-bullying ambassadors, and prevention projects. The Inclusive Education Department also supports safety and inclusion by providing individualized education plans, collaboration with external therapists, classroom adaptations and family accompaniment.
