Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Classes are taught in three languages—English (70%), Spanish (18%), and French (12%)—with a goal that students understand, speak, and write in all three from an early age. LAF has more than 40 years of experience teaching French from Nursery through 9th grade. The educational model centers on a literacy-focused program that merges techniques from several pedagogical approaches to accelerate learning, broaden abilities, and strengthen discipline. Instruction follows a three-step cycle: the teacher explains and models the concept, students practice, and the teacher checks understanding, all aligned with international standards.

Arts and Creative

Art, Music, and Sports programs foster creativity, expression, and intellectual development, and promote exercise, health, and teamwork. The Art program runs from Kindergarten to Junior High, teaching painting, drawing, and art history to stimulate creativity and sensitivity. Music supports memory, concentration, and psychomotor development; Nursery through Pre-K and Kindergarten learn songs in English and French, Elementary students read musical notes and play the recorder, and Jr. High students can choose among different musical practices.

Cultural and Language

Classrooms teach in English, Spanish, and French with a language mix of 70% English, 18% Spanish, and 12% French. LAF is a private and laical educational institution offering a trilingual program (English, French, and Spanish) to children and teenagers from Nursery to Jr. High. The school is certified by the French Institute of Latin America (IFAL) and holds the LABEL certification, signaling high-quality French language teaching; LAF is the only Elementary School in Nuevo León to obtain LABEL.

Social and Hobbies

Extracurricular activities include Art, Music, and Sports, plus Day Care; The Arts and Sports Programs foster creativity, expression, autonomy, discipline, and teamwork. The Arts program runs from Kindergarten to Jr. High, with music components that support memory and concentration; Nursery to Kindergarten sing in English and French, and Elementary students learn notes and recorder. Jr. High offers various musical practices and team sports such as soccer, volleyball, and basketball to promote collaboration and personal development.

Community and Service

Values and social development are supported through Social Service, Love and Friendship, and related programs. Social Service organizes charitable visits to raise awareness of community needs, while Love and Friendship promotes empathy, responsibility, respect, positivity, generosity, creativity, and perseverance. LAF collaborates with La Alianza Anticáncer Infantil and Fundación AMANEC on campaigns such as Hair Against Cancer and Corazón de Tapitas to support cancer-related causes. Nutrition and Ecology programs promote healthy eating and ecological stewardship, with the cafeteria offering nutritious dishes and active student involvement in recycling efforts (PET and HDPE).

Leadership and Professional

Communication, teamwork, creativity, the use of technology, and social responsibility are key to success in the 21st century. The school supports leadership and professional development through international programs and teacher training partnerships (e.g., LitLife) that enhance reading and writing in English and align curricula with standards in the United States. Events and initiatives such as MUNLAF in the calendar provide opportunities for student leadership and public speaking.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Nutrition and Ecology programs promote healthy lifestyles and environmental stewardship. The cafeteria offers nutritious dishes, and the Nutrition Program teaches the benefits of fruits and vegetables for physical and mental development. The Ecology Program fosters ecological awareness, with student participation in PET and HDPE recycling for the broader community. The Nursing department records BMI for health monitoring, and School Accident Insurance covers accidents that occur on campus or during school activities.
