Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

On September 11, 1981, Dr. Eduardo Macedas Santos oversaw the incorporation of Liceo Anglo France9s Monterrey, A.C. into the state education system, with founding General Director Henriette Jarjanette Saletzki, who led LAF until March 15, 1988. LAF began with three educational levels: Kindergarten, Elementary and Jr. High, serving 123 students and offering Nursery through Ninth Grade with instruction in English, French and Spanish. As of 1994, the English curriculum was modified and 70% of classes are taught in English. In 2013, the English Program was aligned with U.S. educational standards, improving the English level and enabling measurement of learning according to international standards. LAF graduates independent, self-confident and committed leaders who work as a team and are sensitive to the needs of the community and their environment.

Community

The LAF community strives to form integral, innovative, enterprising leaders in an international environment using avant-garde teaching methodologies, as well as academic and extracurricular programs that focus on establishing a platform for high-level college performance. Communication, teamwork, creativity, the use of technology, and social responsibility are key to success in the 21st century. The school provides a safe environment where all students can express themselves, respect others, and get along with their peers.

Liceo Anglo Francés de Monterrey is a private, secular school in Monterrey, Mexico, offering an American curriculum and a tri-lingual program for Nursery through Junior High. The campus on a single site provides dedicated spaces for each level, with libraries, a Technology Room, an Elementary Café, and outdoor play areas, plus multiple sports fields. The school is affiliated with the Mexican state education system through official recognition of validity of studies. The French program has a long pedigree; LAF has more than 40 years of experience teaching French from Nursery through 9th grade and holds the LABEL-IFAL certification. The school engages in service campaigns and leadership programs (MUNLAF) and offers arts and sports; libraries align to U.S. standards.
