Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The objective is to form upright people by instilling ethical and moral values, as well as motivating self-esteem, empathy, and mutual respect among the LAF community. To support values and community living among students, three programs were created: Super Kid (Kinder), Love and Friendship, and Social Service (Jr. High). Super Kid (Kinder) recognizes and makes each student feel special for a week, with the aim of integrating them, boosting self-esteem and mutual respect. Conscious Discipline is a socio-emotional program that teaches children how to regulate and manage their emotions to make better decisions and feel safe, developing seven skills including composure, empathy, and decision-making. Love and Friendship teaches a set of values such as empathy, responsibility, respect, positivity, generosity, creativity, love/friendship, honesty, humility and perseverance to foster harmony among students, staff, and the community, and awards an annual LAF Love and Friendship Diploma to outstanding students. Social Service organizes charitable visits to raise awareness about community needs and promote service, including ongoing collaborations with La Alianza Anticáncer Infantil and Fundación AMANEC.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Classes are taught in three languages: English (70%), Spanish (18%), and French (12%). We are the only institution in Nuevo León with more than 40 years of experience teaching French from Nursery to 9th grade. The goal is for students to understand, speak, and write in three languages from a young age. The English level is aligned with international standards, helping students achieve the scores needed to pursue a third language in high school. A range of reading and digital platforms support language learning, including Raz-Kids and TumbleBooks, along with other educational technology tools such as BrainPOP, IXL, Discovery Education, and more, to reinforce reading and language practice in English, Spanish, and French.

Liceo Anglo Francés de Monterrey is a private, secular school in Monterrey, Mexico, offering an American curriculum and a tri-lingual program for Nursery through Junior High. The campus on a single site provides dedicated spaces for each level, with libraries, a Technology Room, an Elementary Café, and outdoor play areas, plus multiple sports fields. The school is affiliated with the Mexican state education system through official recognition of validity of studies. Classes are taught in English (70%), Spanish (18%), and French (12%), and reading, writing, and mathematics are delivered in all three languages. The French program has a long pedigree; LAF has more than 40 years of experience teaching French from Nursery through 9th grade and holds the LABEL-IFAL certification. The curriculum follows a three-step teaching cycle: the teacher explains and models the concept, students practice, and the teacher checks understanding, aligned with international standards. The school engages in service campaigns and leadership programs (MUNLAF) and offers arts and sports; libraries align to U.S. standards.
