The school sits on a 15-acre campus that is described as an oasis in Tangier and Morocco. It also encompasses 20 coastal acres at Cherfian Rocks. Over the years, buildings, programs, and sports facilities have been added, creating a blend of old and new. USAID-ASHA funded projects added a 12-classroom wing and a Maker Space. The projects also upgraded water drainage, improved the field, repaired the entrance road, added solar power, and upgraded the heating system, while enhancing the property at Cherfian Rocks.
The school participates in the Maroc-American Schools Athletic Conference (MASAC). MASAC was formed to provide seasonal athletic competition among member schools and to promote sportsmanship and serious competition. The MASAC schedule includes events such as JV and Varsity soccer, HS/MS swimming, JV volleyball, varsity volleyball, and basketball tournaments, among others. The MASAC framework emphasizes fair play and a code of conduct shared by all member schools. Athletics are integrated with AST's broader mission and community through MASAC and intramural programs.
Learning spaces were expanded through USAID-ASHA funded projects, including a middle school annex and a Maker Space. The same projects upgraded water drainage, updated the field, repaired the entrance road, added solar power, and improved the heating system. The campus blends historic and modern facilities on its 15-acre footprint, with additional coastal acreage to support outdoor learning. The library houses over 9,000 books to support student research and reading. These elements together create a robust academic environment.
Extracurricular activities are an essential element of student development. After-school activities are offered to help students socialize, collaborate, and form a community, and they help students discover skills and interests. A variety of ASAs is offered to ignite creativity and connect with peers and teachers. Registration for ASAs occurs each semester, and some activities may require a year-long commitment. Parents are encouraged to discuss options with their child to choose activities that fit.
