Ayeyarwaddy International School (AIS) in Mandalay is a WASC-accredited international school offering Preschool through Grade 12. Founded in 2011, AIS is the only K-12 international school in Upper Myanmar. The school follows an American curriculum model with Language Arts and Math standards drawn from the Common Core, and uses American textbooks for core subjects. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered in the secondary program, and there are on-site TOEFL and SAT examinations to support university admissions. English is the language of instruction, and the program includes electives such as Myanmar studies and Spanish. AIS emphasizes technology-enabled learning with digital classrooms and a large English-language library, along with more than 60 after-school activities.
