The British School Yangon offers after-school clubs that extend learning beyond the classroom. A sample of clubs includes Model United Nations, Journalism, Open Trivia, Study Club, and Art from Around the World, with additional options such as LEGO and Origami. The after-school clubs run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, providing opportunities to develop research, communication, and critical thinking.
The school has a 500-seat theatre, the only theatre in Myanmar, which provides a stage for student performances and performing arts lessons. Performing arts and after-school activities nurture creativity and confidence. Students go on to perform in national competitions, such as the World Scholar's Cup, showcasing creativity and communication.
All lessons and activities are taught in English. Students can learn Spanish or Mandarin to enhance language skills, and Burmese language is available as an option. Language and cultural activities include reading together, Burmese storytelling, and sharing thoughts on English books.
After-school clubs cover a range of interests, including LEGO, Origami, Mindfulness, Karaoke, and Art from Around the World. Journalism and Model United Nations offer outlets for inquiry, collaboration, and public communication, while Open Trivia and Study Club support academic curiosity. Clubs meet after school on selected days from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Leadership opportunities include Model United Nations delegates, house captain roles, sports captain roles, and eco and social impact leaders. Nord Anglia collaboration provides access to UNICEF Summit and Social Impact Grant programs.
Students can take on leadership roles through house leadership, Model United Nations participation, and involvement in eco and social impact initiatives. Participation in UNICEF Summit and other Nord Anglia initiatives helps develop professional skills such as public speaking, teamwork, and project management.
BSY offers a broad sports program that includes football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, rugby, table tennis, and rock climbing. Facilities support physical health, including a 25m pool, two gyms, a rock-climbing wall, and an all-weather pitch. The school promotes a healthy, active lifestyle and well-being through sport and fitness activities.
