The HSV International Primary School was established in 1986. The HSV International Primary School operates at four locations in The Hague: Koningin Sophiestraat 24a (KSS), Nassaulaan 26 (NSL), Van Nijenrodestraat 16 (VNS), and Van Heutszstraat 12 (VHS). Quality education subsidised by the Dutch Ministry of Education supports the program. The school emphasizes global citizenship and lifelong learning and aims to develop the whole child to become internationally-minded leaders.
The HSV community is diverse, with pupils from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, traditions and religions. The school reflects these differences and similarities and emphasizes understanding the language and culture of the host country, the Netherlands. Families are kept informed through weekly updates and monthly newsletters for each location. Open Mornings are offered for prospective families via online registration.
The school has a Joint Participation Council (GMR) as a parent body. The GMR is part of HSV's governance structure. HSV Alumni exists as a related group. The Foundation (Stichting) and the Supervisory Board form part of HSV's governance.
Situated in the Benoordenhout area of The Hague, the HSV International Primary School's VNS location is housed in an authentic 1920s building that retains many of its original art-deco features. The school teaches a structured program based on the UK National Curriculum for Literacy and Mathematics, combined with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), ensuring subjects like science, geography, and art are taught through engaging, interdisciplinary units. A distinguishing feature of the VNS location is its size; it is the largest of HSV’s international branches, accommodating up to 280 pupils in classes capped at 20 students to allow for personalized, inquiry-based learning. In September 2025, the campus expanded its offerings by launching a Dutch Bilingual class, further integrating international students with the host country's culture. The VNS location provides a supportive, inclusive setting focused on developing global citizenship.
