The British School in The Netherlands - Junior School Leidschenveen (JSL) offers the Early Years Foundation Stage and English National Curriculum for children aged 3 to 11. The campus features a dedicated Food Technology room where students bake and cook, a sports hall, and extensive outdoor playgrounds. A defining element of JSL is its Forest School program, an initiative where students engage in outdoor learning, create aboriginal-inspired journey sticks, and build fires to make popcorn and hot chocolate. EAL classes support non-native English speakers from Year 1 by removing them from mainstream lessons for focused language instruction. Years 1 and 2 learn through a topic-based approach, integrating subjects practically. The campus also offers unique extracurriculars like the Library Warriors, where students assist at the local Bibliotheek Mariahoeve. Dutch is taught starting in Year 1, while French, German, and Spanish are introduced in Year 6 by visiting specialist teachers.
