History

The history of Takapuna Grammar School is characterised by a focus on academic achievement and personal excellence. This focus continues today and underpins the future direction of the school. Takapuna Grammar School's priority is quality teaching and learning. The aspiration for personal excellence motivates the programmes offered, enabling all students to realise their potential. The local schools have formed a Community of Learning to promote a seamless pathway of education from early childhood to tertiary level.

Community

The school is a hub for the local community with almost all the students from contributing schools attending Takapuna Grammar School. The local schools have formed a Community of Learning to promote a seamless pathway of education from early childhood to tertiary level. There are strong international relationships and opportunities for global experiences, including overseas tours and international students who add a unique dimension. Performing Arts groups participate in annual choir festivals and competitions, perform in community concerts, and stage major productions throughout the year.

Parent-Teacher Association

The Parent Teacher Association is a team of volunteers that raises funds and runs social events for the school community. Money raised by the PTA pays for equipment for students and large projects such as landscaping. All parents and caregivers are welcome to join the PTA at any stage of the year. Meetings are held in the staffroom, with the next meeting announced on the PTA page. They welcome sponsorship or donations from businesses and individuals.

Takapuna Grammar School is a co-educational state school on Auckland's North Shore, New Zealand, serving Years 9-13. Notably, it was the first state school in New Zealand to be approved to offer the IB qualification, alongside NCEA. The school motto is "Per Angusta Ad Augusta" (Through endeavour to greatness).
