Facilities Overview

The German-Nicaraguan School is located at Km 10.5 Carretera Sur in Managua and serves Kindergarten through secondary. The Kindergarten houses about 120 children in six groups, with a teaching staff that speaks German and Spanish. All secondary classrooms are equipped with smart projectors, and LAN/WLAN is available across the school for digital learning. The campus hosts the German Cultural Center (CCA), which promotes German culture and hosts cultural and sporting events, ICAN language courses for adults and children, and a German-language restaurant in the German Club area on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 pm; on those days, non-members may use the pool and sports facilities. Sports Facilities

Sports facilities are available on campus and can be used by Club Alemán members. There are on-site athletic installations and a swimming pool; on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 pm, a German restaurant operates in the German Club area, and non-members may use the pool and sports facilities on those days.

Academic Facilities

In Primaria, German is taught as a foreign language and as a mother tongue, with subjects like Music and Workshop taught in German; from third grade, art and informatics are taught in German. In Secundaria, the program aims to complete the Bilingual IB Diploma (GIB), with advanced instruction in German for selected subjects such as Art, Physics, European History and Biology from defined grades. The Diploma Programme emphasizes a holistic, intercultural approach with components like Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS), and is designed to be recognized by universities worldwide. The school uses digital learning across grades, with all classrooms having smart projectors and LAN/WLAN, and platforms like Quizlet and Kognity supporting DaF and DfU language work. Language diplomas (IVA, DSD) are offered, with DSD II enabling university study in Germany; ICAN and cultural initiatives also support language and culture study.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The German Cultural Center (CCA) promotes German culture on campus, including the Club Alemán, and hosts cultural and sport events; ICAN offers German courses for adults and children. The campus includes a German-language restaurant in the Club Alemán area and allows non-members access to the pool and sports facilities on Tuesday and Friday evenings. Student life is organized through the Student Parliament (from 5th grade up), which elects representatives and a president/vice president and can promote fairs, kermes and raffles. The Parents Association (APF) acts as a channel between families and school leadership, organizing committees across academics, sports, culture, events and safety, while Convivencia Escolar (Peace and Culture Group) promotes peaceful school culture with student leadership and activities.
