Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

1. Primary Campus admissions: The Primary Campus extends from Grade 1 to Grade 5 and pupils must be five years or older at admission into Grade 1. To be considered, children must complete an application form and pass the assessment. Applications are encouraged before the first term or second term of the chosen academic year, and April to early July admissions are deferred to September. After the entrance exam, an interview is conducted with the child and parent/guardian; Educare entrants may have a tester session, and transition from Educare to Grade 1 involves an entrance test and a developmental interview; after payment of the commitment fee, pre-admission forms are completed and an admission letter is issued.

2. Secondary Campus admissions: Admission to GIS's Secondary Campus for Grades 7-12 is open to children aged 11+ and above. New families must sit for an entrance examination into the chosen grade; entrance exam applications are obtained and paid for at the Administration office via an Admissions Procedure form. Children moving up from Primary Campus (Grade 6) are also required to pass an entrance exam. After the assessment, applicants are invited for an interview; if they pass, an offer into the grade is made.

3. Sixth Form admissions: Students who have written WASSCE, NECO, or IGCSE, or another known equivalent examination are eligible to apply provided they've attained a minimum of five credits in relevant subjects including English and Mathematics. Before admission, an entrance examination is administered, after which the student and the parent(s) are invited for an interview. Students must be aged between sixteen and seventeen at the start of Sixth Form; students above eighteen are not admitted.
