Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school uses a play-based Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Personal, social and emotional development is one of the three prime areas of learning. The environment is safe, friendly, attractive and secure, with respect for every individual at the centre of school life. Learning is monitored through teacher observations with regular consultation with parents to track progress and address concerns. Parents are encouraged to share knowledge about their child's development to support ongoing growth. The Pre-School places emphasis on personal development and the development of social skills as foundations for later learning.

Mental Wellbeing

The curriculum emphasizes Personal, Social and Emotional Development as part of the EYFS, supporting emotional wellbeing through secure relationships and positive learning experiences. This focus fosters secure relationships and positive learning experiences. The school provides a safe, caring environment that promotes high self-esteem. When concerns arise, staff involve the counsellor or guidance counselor to support students. Parents are kept informed about their child's well-being and progress. The school encourages active partnership with parents to support well-being.

Safeguarding

The Discipline Policy provides a structured framework of offenses and sanctions and includes referral to a counsellor and guidance counselor for student support. Boarding facilities are described as safe, neat and well-ventilated, supporting pupil safety. Parents as Partners emphasizes that the EYFS recognizes parents as primary educators and encourages partnership to safeguard children's wellbeing. The policy notes that the school reserves the right to review sanctions and involve parents and the principal in decisions. The school maintains ongoing communication with parents and staff to monitor student wellbeing.
