After-school activities last 50 minutes and are led by Priory staff and specialized instructors. They are optional and incur a small additional cost, offering opportunities to learn new skills and engage with different interests. A typical range includes Arts and Craft, Athletics, Basketball, Ballet, Beauty and Accessories, Board Games, Brownie Club, Chess, Coding, Dance & Aerobics, Drama, Fencing, Financial Literacy, Football, Graphics Design, Gymnastics, Hair Styling, Handwriting, Junior Chef, Literacy & Debate, Mine Craft, Nigerian Culture, Public Speaking, Reading, STEAM, Swimming, Top Sticks (Drum), and Yoruba Language.
Arts and Creative activities are offered through after-school sessions such as Arts and Craft, Ballet, Drama, and Dance & Aerobics. Music opportunities are provided via Choir and Band, with auditions held throughout the year and weekly practices to build skill. The school also stages performances inside and outside the school to showcase student talent.
Nigerian Culture and Yoruba Language are provided as after-school activities, reflecting the school's cultural offerings.
Students can join Board Games, Brownie Club, Chess, Public Speaking, Literacy & Debate, Reading, and Mine Craft as after-school activities, among others.
Guest interactions include members from GreenFingers Conservation and notable figures such as Nigeria's pioneering female physicist; field trips include beach outings, art gallery tours, and visits to local businesses. Students also represent Priory in sports events and inter-school competitions, engaging with the wider community.
Head Boy and Head Girl are elected annually from Year 6 and present to the school body. The School Council is elected from every class (Y2–Y6) and meets almost weekly to discuss student interests, lead charitable initiatives and fundraising, and explore school projects. House Captains lead their Houses and coordinate events and points in assemblies.
Sports squads begin with early-morning tryouts for teams in football, swimming, athletics, and basketball, with signed agreements and regular practices. Students represent Priory in games and events, building teamwork and school spirit. The House system runs events such as sports tournaments and chess matches to promote participation, while weekly choir and band practices provide additional opportunities for personal growth and wellbeing.
The Priory Preparatory School is an independent day school for children aged 5 to 10, located in Lekki Phase I, Lagos, Nigeria. The school follows the English National Curriculum within a framework that respects Nigerian traditions, delivering core subjects in English with specialist teaching in music, French, sport, computing and art.
