Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
1. Application forms cost N100,000 and can be purchased from The Regent Secondary School Office or completed online. The form is valid only for parents whose child meets the age requirement. The school reserves the right to decline admission if the child does not meet all the requirements for admission.
2. Age requirements must be met by 31 August of the entry year: Year 7 – 11 years, Year 8 – 12 years, Year 9 – 13 years, Year 10 – 14 years. Children who do not meet the age entry requirements will not be permitted to sit the entrance examination. The school will not normally admit into Year 11 except in special circumstances and at the Principal's discretion.
3. Completing the application form: Complete the application form fully and correctly. All required supporting documents must be uploaded. The form should be completed by the parent or guardian and signed; the child should not sign. Payment of the application fee confirms the form and the Admissions Office will advise you of the dates available to sit the Entrance test.
4. Entrance assessment: All applicants will be required to sit the Entrance Test, which lasts 3.5 hours. English and Mathematics are tested, and there is a computer-based test. Entrance tests are scheduled for January and March in Abuja, with additional testing sessions offered if space is available. Candidates should aim to perform at 65% or above to be considered for admission, and the School reserves the right not to admit a child even if they pass the entrance tests.
5. Admission processing period: The academic year starts in September and ends in July, so applicants are encouraged to apply early. Admission processing occurs after all necessary documents are received. Acceptance is indicated by payment of a non-refundable Capital Developmental fee. If a place is not secured within the designated period, the space may be offered to other candidates.
6. Application requirements / Supporting documents: Passport photograph, birth certificate, bio-data page of international passport, and the last school academic report (Term 1, 2024-2025). A testimonial/character reference from the primary school and the Primary School Leaving Certificate are also required. If transferring from another secondary school, attach the Transfer Certificate and a reference from the previous Principal. The completed application form should be submitted to the Administrative Office.
