The RiverBank School was founded in 2009. It began as a Nursery delivering the Early Year Foundation Stage with Montessori principles. The vision was birthed by the Pastor of the City of David Church, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade. The RiverBank School started in the premises of the junior church hall and a room in the church office, with the first pupil, Tochi Arinze, beginning on 2 March 2009. The school has grown in size, stature and reputation, and maintains a pupil-to-teacher ratio of 12:1.
The school is an international school with over twenty countries represented in its population. It has excellent links with its diverse community. The RiverBank School has a warm, welcoming, family atmosphere. It offers a varied selection of enrichment and enhancement opportunities.
The school has a Parent–Teacher Forum (PTF), a volunteer forum for fostering good relations between parents and teachers. All existing parents are automatically members. The PTF assists in organizing special events and helping raise funds for the School. An elected executive committee meets on a regular basis throughout the school year. Officers include Chairperson (Parent member), Vice-Chairperson (Parent member), Secretary (Teacher member), Assistant Secretary (Teacher member), Treasurer (Parent member) and Financial Secretary (Teacher member). Notes: The PTF is an advisory body and shall not interfere in the day-to-day running of the School; the design of all School policies rests with School Management.
The RiverBank School is a Christian British school in Nigeria for ages 1 to 11. It blends Montessori principles in Nursery with the English National Curriculum, extending to Cambridge Lower Secondary and a two-year Cambridge IGCSE programme for English Language and Literature. The curriculum follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales, with Key Stage 3 English including the Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint in Year 9. The campus features facilities to support learning from early years through key stage levels, including playground, Swimming Pool, Astro Turf, Library and a Music Room with instruments. The ICT Lab and Science Laboratory (with Chemistry Lab) enable technology and science learning; a language room and ICT resources support digital learning via wowbii, tablets and laptops. Founded in 2009 by Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, it maintains a 12:1 pupil-teacher ratio. Afterschool activities include sports, art, science and technology, with clubs such as Computing/ ICT and Chess.
