Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls was established on January 8, 1991 by Chief Dr (Mrs) Leila Fowler, MFR, to promote the advancement of women through quality and functional education. It is described as the leading all-girls school in Nigeria. It offers a balanced education that develops students' personal qualities to enable them to cope with life in universities both in Nigeria and outside Nigeria. The girls-only environment reduces bias in the choice of subjects and careers and aims to expand leadership opportunities while balancing disciplined study with a social life outside the classroom.
Enrichment opportunities include STEAM (Robotics and Coding), Chess, Scrabble, Girl Guides and Red Cross, complemented by a wide range of sporting activities. Boarding facilities are roomy and secure, with supervision by a mother-figure assisted by matrons; boarding students follow a routine of siesta, prep and recreation.
