Kongsberg International School (KIS) is an IB continuum school in Kongsberg that teaches in English and serves students aged 6 to 16. Founded in 2003 to serve the international community and provide continuity for Norwegian families returning from abroad, it offers the IB Primary Years Programme for Grades 1–6 (ages 6–12) and the IB Middle Years Programme for Grades 7–10 (ages 13–16). Class sizes are small, and the school is non-selective. With over 190 students from more than 39 nationalities, the community is diverse and welcoming. The campus includes a library and playground, with SFO opposite; there is no on-site canteen, and meals are brought from home. The library opens at 08:45 and runs a Library Club for Grades 4–6. The school emphasises outdoor education, PE, and learning through real-life contexts, including Grade 3–6 overnight trips, Dungeons & Dragons, and a Hopi Nakwách-inspired logo symbolising brotherhood. A PTA supports community projects.
