Manglerud International Classes (MIC) was established in 2016 as a city-wide IB program housed within Manglerud skole, a public school that follows the Norwegian Educational Act. The program delivers an English-language curriculum and follows the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) framework, with the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Grades 1–6 and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Grades 7–10. MIC is open to qualified applicants who have the right to education in the Municipality of Oslo. The IBO authorised Manglerud skole, International Classes as an IB World School for the PYP in January 2019 and for the MYP in March 2023. International Classes will be closing in August 2026 after ten years of operation.
The International Classes community is diverse, with teaching and administrative staff from several nationalities. Parent–teacher conferences are held twice a year, and written progress reports are issued at the end of the school year. International Classes has a student council for years 8–10 that meets monthly. The school supports home–school collaboration through a Parent Association (FAU), which meets 6–7 times a year; at the start of the year, International Classes parents elect two representatives (one main and one substitute) to FAU to report back to parents. There is a Handbook for Class Representatives and FAU, and FAU meeting minutes are archived for transparency.
FAU (Foreldrerådets arbeidsutvalg) is Manglerud skole's Parent Association for the International Classes. All parents of enrolled children are members, and FAU works to ensure real parental involvement and a safe, cooperative learning environment. FAU meets 6–7 times per year, and at the beginning of the year International Classes parents select two representatives (one main, one substitute) to serve on FAU and report back to the parent body. There is a Handbook for Class Representatives and FAU, and meeting minutes and related information are maintained for parents. FAU operates alongside broader municipal parent networks such as Oslo KFU and FUG, which coordinate parent involvement and offer training and meetings for FAU leaders and representatives.
