ABA Oman International School was established in 1987 as a not-for-profit international school in Muscat. It became the first school in the region to offer the full International Baccalaureate continuum (PYP, MYP, and DP). In March 2022, ABA relocated from its Al Khuwair campus to a modern Madinat Al Irfan campus, marked by an inauguration led by ABA alumnus His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham bin Tarik Al Said. ABA is governed by a Board of Directors and reinvests any surplus into facilities and programs. The school serves over 940 students from more than 65 countries, and the Class of 2020 and 2021 achieved perfect DP scores of 45.
ABA's community includes students from more than 65 countries and staff from about 20 nations. The school hosts intercultural events such as the International Cultural Festival (ICF), featuring a Parade of Nations, performances, and traditional food stalls. Careers Day for Grade 10 in 2025 demonstrates ongoing engagement with families around post-secondary pathways. Parents and alumni participate in school life, with the PTA coordinating volunteer-driven events that strengthen the community.
The PTA is a parent-run organization that includes all parents and teachers at ABA, and its purpose is to organize events that build community and raise funds for equipment and services that enhance education. The 2025-26 PTA Executive Committee includes Chair Svenja af Trolle Velinder, Treasurer Victoria Kugach, Communications Liaison Zeinab Hussein, and Parent Representatives for ECE/ES, MS and HS, plus Logistics lead Rani Ganeshan. The PTA maintains a volunteer channel, inviting parents to sign up to help plan and run events. Upcoming PTA events include Spooktacular (30 October 2025), Frostival (11 December 2025), the Golf Tournament (23 January 2026), and the International Cultural Festival (ICF) on 29 January 2026. PAL stands for Parent Activities and Leisure, reflecting the PTA's broad range of family-focused activities. The PTA coordinates closely with the ABA community to support events and activities that benefit students.
