Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Beaconhouse International Private School, Al Khuwair traces its origins to 2006, when the founding principal began at the Qurum Campus, growing from a villa school into a two-campus operation. The Al Khuwair campus is purpose-built and opened in 2020 to serve students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, with A-Levels and GED options. The campus now hosts students and staff from more than 25 nationalities, creating a diverse and culturally rich learning environment. The school emphasizes 21st-century learning and the development of key skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking as core parts of its educational ethos.

Community

Bake sales are used as community outreach to involve students in service and empathy-building activities, reflecting the school's commitment to engaging with the wider community. Global Dignity Week is celebrated with the community, including a donation drive where students and parents contributed to Dar Al Atta'a Charity for Cyclone Shaheen relief. Students also participate in breast cancer awareness activities via a walkathon during Pink October, with UNICEF groups organizing related fundraising efforts. These events illustrate ongoing family and community engagement beyond the classroom.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parent involvement is described as integral to quality learning, with the school valuing relationships with parents and the wider community. Parental engagement is presented as part of broader community involvement rather than through a separately named PTA. Public pages document community events that involve families, including bake sales as community outreach and Global Dignity Week activities. During Global Dignity Week, students and parents donated items to Dar Al Atta'a for Cyclone Shaheen relief. Other events include a Breast Cancer awareness walkathon and UNICEF fundraising efforts, organized by student groups. These activities illustrate parental involvement embedded in school life rather than through a formal PTA.
