It moved to its Dahariz campus in September 1985. In 1988 it came under the Ministry of Private Education, Oman, and governance shifted from the old Indian Club sub-committee to an independent School Management Committee. The school conducted its first CBSE Class 10 exam in 1988 and its Class 12 exam in 1994, and it celebrated its Silver Jubilee in February 2006. Since 2022-23 it has held NABET accreditation.
Indian School Salalah serves a community of Indian expatriates in Salalah and students from other nationalities. It celebrates Indian holidays with cultural festivals and conducts major events such as the Annual Sports Meet (usually in November) and the School Annual Day (in January); exhibitions and carnivals have been part of its calendar, with exhibitions revived in 2014 and again in 2024 and a Carnival last held in 2022. It also runs co-curricular programs including the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for students from class 9 onward and the Scouts and Guides program for classes 5–8.
Indian School Salalah is governed through a three-level structure: Board of Directors for Indian Schools in Oman, a School Management Committee (SMC), and School Administration. The SMC comprises eleven members, with Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil as President and Mr. Deepak Patankar as the member-secretary. The Board of Directors for Indian Schools in Oman is chaired by Syed Ahmad Salman. These bodies oversee the school's policy and administrative directions. Public governance materials describe this structure rather than a standalone PTA, indicating that parent involvement is organized through the SMC and the broader governance framework.
