International Pioneers School-Salalah opened in 2010, born from founder Mohammed Alabadi Al Rawas' vision to provide quality education for Salalah's children. The school is privately owned and co-educational, and it aligns with Cambridge Assessment International Education along with the Sultanate of Oman Ministry of Education curriculum. IPS was recognized as an international private school by the Ministry of Education Oman in 2015. The school serves Playgroup to Grade 12, offering a bilingual environment and a mix of international and MOE curricula. Over time IPS has grown into an international center of excellence with a diverse staff and student body.
The IPS community is international in makeup, with students representing more than 22 nations. The administration and teaching staff come from multiple countries, including Oman, the United Kingdom, Tunisia, the United States, Egypt and India. Co-curricular activities are varied and include English Calligraphy, English Recitation, Story Telling, and arts and science offerings. IPS participates in external events such as the Young Learners Art Competition, WWF Nature Carnival, Wetlands Gala Festival and the DAWN in Education Annual Spelling Bee.
IPS has a Parent Teachers Association as part of its governance framework. The PTA is elected by parents through a voting process; voting was conducted by fellow parents. The PTA membership is announced publicly on the IPS Team page after the election. Parents can express interest and sign up to join the PTA using the 'Sign Up' option on the page. The page thanks those who expressed interest in joining the PTA, indicating ongoing parental involvement. The PTA is presented within the IPS Team section alongside administration and academia, underscoring its role in school life.
International Pioneers School – Salalah is a private bilingual school in Salalah, Oman, serving students from Playgroup through Grade 12.
