Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

All human beings are called to the pursuit of personal excellence and the perfection of all their potential. The school treats each student as a unique person with high dignity. Parents are recognized as the primary partners in education, and the school collaborates with them and encourages their active involvement in school life. Education in freedom gives students opportunities to decide for themselves and to develop autonomy with responsibility. The school has a spirit of service, forming men who respond to the needs of society with generosity and solidarity. Life unity is taught so students act coherently in their professional, family, social, and spiritual lives, while intercultural understanding and learning to learn are fostered.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school has a Psychopedagogical Department. The department knows students in all aspects of their personality, development, interests, aptitudes, affectivity, and interpersonal relationships. It guides student efforts in line with the school's objectives, in cooperation with teachers and parents. Aptitude tests are administered to enhance academic performance and prevent failure, and in the emotional area tests of character and personality are used to monitor and support emotional development and improve relationships. The department is staffed by specialists in Educational Psychology. If you have concerns about your child, you can raise them through the classroom teacher, who will consult with the psychologist.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school has a bilingual program designed for students to develop the skills and intercultural understanding needed to communicate successfully in English-speaking environments. The program broadens students' awareness of the world and fosters respect for cultural diversity. The staff includes 50% native English speakers. Courses taught in English include Language Arts, Numeracy, Integrated Science, Social Studies, Music, Visual Arts, IT, and the Extended Essay. Since 1998, the school prepares students to take Cambridge English examinations, and since 2011 for the English B certificate from the International Baccalaureate. We promote student exchanges with English-speaking countries and are exploring additional destinations.

Mental Wellbeing

The school supports students' emotional development through the Psychopedagogical Department. The department uses tests of character and personality to monitor and support emotional development and to improve relationships with peers and family. The team is composed of specialists in Educational Psychology who work with teachers. If you have concerns about your child, you can raise them through the classroom teacher, who will coordinate with the psychologist.

Safeguarding

The school has a Data Protection Policy covering the personal data of the COFAM educational community. The policy notes that data protection rules apply to minors, and parental consent is required for processing a minor's data; adolescents aged 14 or older may consent to their own data processing. Personal data may include identifiers, contact details, photographs, videos, and health information. Data are stored in databases and may be used to deliver educational services; transfers are restricted unless consent or a legal obligation exists. Individuals have ARCO rights (access, rectification, cancellation, opposition) and may exercise them by contacting bancodedatos@cofam.edu.pe or the appropriate address; security measures protect data confidentiality. The policy can be updated with notification of changes.
