In June 1964, a group of English, American and Peruvian citizens founded a mixed school offering a comprehensive education with intensive English language instruction. The Colegio Anglo Americano Prescott opened in April 1965 in a small Vallecito house, welcoming four- and five-year-old students. Over the years the school grew and moved to new premises, always with the support of Don Frank Michell, an English entrepreneur with Arequipa roots, who contributed financially and with care to the institution's progress, along with his wife Marjorie Stafford de Michell. It was named Prescott in honor of William Hickling Prescott, the American historian admired for his tenacity and his contribution to Peruvian culture. Founders included Samuel Lozada Tamayo, Eduardo Bedoya Forga, Verner Foulkes, Arnulfo Valdivia Ampuero, Jeanette Ricketts, Mary Burgess, John Banks, Gwynne Schultz, and Rosemary Latham de Barreda; today the institution is led by Head Principal Carmen García Calderón Barreda.
Prescott maintains an active school community with ongoing family and alumni involvement. The events calendar shows regular Parents Meetings for Preschool and Elementary and for Middle and High School, and Service Week activities to support student learning. The school also marks its culture with events such as the Night of Traditions, a celebration of Prescott's roots and diversity. The community life is complemented by school news and updates shared with families and alumni.
The Asociación Educacional Anglo Americana Prescott (AEP) is a non-profit organization that promotes educational programs and projects and supports the Prescott Educational Project. Since the founders, many individuals have contributed tirelessly to the institution's direction through the AEP. The Advisory Council for 2025–2027 includes President Rosario Eguiluz de Prime, Vice President Ana López de Romaña de Michell, and Councilors Rosemary Latham de Barreda and Derek Michell López de Romaña, among others. The Board of Directors for 2025–2027 is headed by President Jose Carlos Hernani Oviedo (Class of 1987), with other officers and alumni. All board members are parents and/or alumni who donate their time and experience to uphold the school's founding principles.
