Salcantay offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for grades 10 and 11, providing an international certification and direct admission to prestigious universities in Peru or abroad, with credit transfer as allowed by each university. It is a demanding and academically balanced program designed to develop key university-ready competencies: argumentation, critical thinking, research, teamwork, community engagement, international-mindedness, and academic integrity. Central to IB is the learner profile, inviting students, parents, and teachers to develop a sustained commitment to learning by fostering attributes such as inquirers, knowledgeable and informed, thinkers, reflective, open-minded, principled, caring, balanced, good communicators, and bold. The Diploma Programme combines a compulsory core—Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)—with six subject groups to provide a comprehensive academic experience.
Artes: Visual Arts offer a solid artistic base and aim to develop lifelong interest in the arts, with students exploring and appreciating art across time and space to become critical observers and informed creators. Education in the arts emphasizes theory, technique, and artistic culture to educate sensitivity, foster creativity, and strengthen will. Education Musical develops theoretical foundations and instrumental and vocal practice, with percussion and recorder in the early years and violin, flute, or guitar starting in 4th grade. Ensemble and Salcantay Choir invite students with greater musical ability to perform in internal and external presentations such as ADECOPA, inter-school meetings, and festivals. Extracurricular arts workshops run after school from Monday to Thursday, including Violin, Guitar, Flute, Keyboard, Percussion, and Primary Choir.
Educación Bilingüe: The bilingual program is designed to develop intercultural understanding, with a curriculum that allows interdisciplinary learning and immersion in Anglophone culture through courses such as Language Arts, Numeracy, Science, Social Studies, Music, and Visual Arts, teaching English from an early age while exposing students to other cultures and developing critical and value-based thinking. The English Room, English Lab, and the Little Bridge online platform support a highly experiential language-learning methodology, and Cambridge certifications from early primary years corroborate the quality of English instruction. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme also includes language-focused groups such as Group 1: Language and Literature (Literature NS) and Group 2: Language Acquisition (English B HL), among others.
Salcantay supports social and hobby activities through team sports and performing arts. The school has volleyball, basketball and gymnastics teams, with training that develops physical capacity, coordination, and teamwork, participating in healthy competition through ADECOPA. There are sports workshops including Volleyball, Aerobics, Athletics, Gymnastics, and Ballet that build coordination, discipline, and confidence. These activities foster social interaction, collaboration, and personal growth outside the classroom.
As part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, students participate in Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS), offering experiences that combine creative engagement, physical activity, and community service. These CAS experiences support holistic development and community involvement alongside academic learning.
The IB framework emphasizes collaboration, inquiry, and leadership development, cultivating skills in teamwork, communication, and ethical understanding as students prepare for university life and future careers. The learner profile and core IB experiences encourage students to take initiative, reflect on their learning, and develop responsible leadership qualities.
Participation in sports and physical activities supports health, well-being, and quality of life, with Salcantay's athletic programs emphasizing fitness, resilience, and healthy habits. The school's competitive sports and diverse physical education offerings promote effort, discipline, and long-term well-being.
