Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Salcantay was founded in 1987 by a group of parents who wanted for their daughters an education centered on personal attention, respect for freedom, responsibility, and a Christian way of life. The Family Orientation Center (COFAM) made this possible. In 2000 Salcantay moved its campus to Av. Pío XII in Surco. The school has hosted notable events, including a 2002 trip to Rome for the canonization of Saint Josemaría Escrivá and a 2010 visit by Monsignor Javier Echevarría. In 2015–2016, construction began on a modern sports complex, which was completed in 2016, and Salcantay implemented the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in 2016.

Community

Salcantay fosters a community of learners guided by values, with Family Formation, Human Formation and Tutoring, and Spiritual Formation programs. The school shares testimonials from families, alumnae, and staff, and features the A Day at Salcantay blog for campus life. A modern sports complex was completed in 2016 to support athletic and physical education, and the school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for grades 10 and 11, emphasizing an integrated, values‑based education.

Colegio Salcantay is a bilingual International Baccalaureate school for girls, serving ages 1 to 17, with a campus dedicated to early childhood through adolescence. The school delivers the IB Diploma Programme in grades 10 and 11 alongside a bespoke curriculum that blends Spanish and English, designed to foster intercultural understanding. From the outset, students learn in English through a cross-disciplinary approach that weaves Language Arts, Numeracy, Science, Social Studies, Music and Visual Arts into language development, with immersion in English language culture. The program is supported by practical tools such as an English Room, an English Lab and the Little Bridge platform. Cambridge certifications are earned from the fourth grade onward, and the Diploma Programme core—Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS—prepares students for university admission and potential credit transfer. The school operates facilities including a PreSchool campus, music room, library, infirmary and auditorium, with NE0 LMS and Zoom tools.
