San Ignacio de Recalde School originated after the founder's success with the San Ignacio de Loyola pre-university academy, with the aim of establishing an innovative Peru-based school. The institution dates from 1990, the year in which Resolution Directorial 2916-90 authorized its operation. The SIR opened its doors in April 1991, sharing facilities with the San Ignacio de Loyola academy and initially offering only the secondary level. Two years later, the school expanded to include kindergarten and primary education in a rented facility, forming a complete basic-education institution that today is part of the USIL Educational Corporation (Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola).
San Ignacio de Recalde School (SIR) is a bilingual educational institution that has served Peruvian children and youth for more than 30 years through a modern, innovative program grounded in ethical and moral values. We prepare students comprehensively with an entrepreneurial vision to become leaders inside and outside the country. We offer rigorous training in English and French and are affiliated with the International Baccalaureate (PYP and Diploma Programme) after an extensive evaluation of our educational model, staff, and administration. We participate in intercultural exchanges and international trips to Spain, France, and the United States, and we promote a range of extracurricular activities and artistic initiatives as part of our SIR Life program.
Colegio San Ignacio de Recalde offers an IB continuum with a bespoke curriculum. The Preschool uses Bright Modules for ages 2–5, focusing on mathematics, socioemotional development, sciences, language with English immersion, art, and psychomotricity, guided by Attitudes and Values, Relevance, Flexibility, Individualization, and Integralidad. The Primary School Programme (PYP) features a transdisciplinary, inquiry-based approach organized around six themes: Who we are; Where we are; How we express ourselves; How the world works; How we organize ourselves; How we share the planet. The Secondary level delivers the IB Diploma Programme (DP) with results up to 44/45 and emphasis on languages (English and French), Individuals and Societies, sciences, mathematics and arts, plus Theory of Knowledge, CAS and Extended Essay. The campus includes a STEAM Lab, smart classrooms, science laboratories, libraries, ICT resources, and a Polideportivo, outdoor fields, and multi-sport courts.
