Markham College offers a wide range of extracurricular activities across academics, arts, music, sports, and social service. These activities enable students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and contribute to the school community. They help students build friendships and strengthen communication, teamwork, and leadership.
Drama groups operate in Spanish and English, with theatre productions performed in Spanish. Arts offerings include Art and Crafts and Batik, and music ensembles such as Orchestra (strings, winds and percussion), Percussion Ensemble, Rock Group, and Choir. The Music Department provides an instrumental programme and performances after school.
Model United Nations and international relations activities are part of the co-curricular programme. The school provides a bilingual education, with English, Spanish or French as first languages in the IB Programme and multiple language options in IGCSE. Markham College is a Round Square member, connecting with over 200 schools in more than 60 countries, and it participates in Round Square international and regional conferences. The program also offers international exchanges with partner schools in Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, France, the United States, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, South Africa, Kenya, Singapore, and Jordan.
After-school activities include more than 75 options such as drama groups, Spanish theatre, arts and crafts, Batik, Junior Debate, M.U.N and international relations, senior Debate, social service projects, cooking, knitting, gardening, and music ensembles (orchestra, percussion, rock group, choir). A wide range of sports is offered, including the Markham Surfing Team, swimming, climbing, squash, table tennis, hockey, basketball, athletics, rollerblading, weights and fitness, volleyball, football, rugby, aerobics, cricket, and mountain biking.
Service Learning fosters global citizenship. Students engage in activities that benefit local communities and learn to take responsibility for the well-being of others while developing personal qualities such as integrity, humility, loyalty and respect. The program emphasizes compassionate leadership and lifelong learning and includes service trips and school-community collaborations.
Student leadership roles are available at both Primary and Secondary levels and are awarded through a fair and rigorous selection process. Roles include School Captains, Prefects, House Captains, and Council Captains for Adventure, Environmental, Intercultural, Service, Wellbeing and Inclusion, aligned with Round Square IDEALS. Participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and Outdoor Education programs supports leadership development and teamwork.
Facilities include extensive playing fields, a swimming pool, an indoor sports stadium (coliseo), and general activities rooms. The Upper School library offers resources in English, Spanish and French, with spaces for science, design and technology, and music, drama and film. The Outdoor Education programme runs annual camps to the Andes, the Amazon and Peru's national parks, with older students mentoring younger peers; 14+ students may participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.
Markham College is a long-established bilingual Peruvian international school in Lima with a British heritage. It serves ages 3 to 18 across two campuses, Monterrico and San Antonio, including a newly opened Primary campus in Monterrico shared with Early Years. The curriculum combines IB PYP, Cambridge IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme. In Lower School English and Spanish are taught across subjects in a dual-language programme; Primary follows a UK English Curriculum with Talk for Writing, and Middle School aligns with the UK national framework; Secondary offers 21 IGCSE subjects and 41 IB subjects (19 at Higher Level). Markham is a Round Square member with international exchanges. The Outdoor Education Programme, Service Learning and a wide arts and sports offering enrich learning. Facilities include biology, chemistry and physics labs, three D&T workshops, an Arts Building and a full Upper School library, plus performance and sports spaces. The Music Programme is an instrumental hub and a London College of Music recognised centre.
