Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

SISFU supports Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) through a structured Student Support framework. A Career Counselling and Academic Support Program provides after-school tutoring and identification of at-risk students via a 'List of Students at Risk.' Peer Mentoring and Study Skills support help students build resilience and effective learning routines. The Career Counselor addresses issues such as managing depression, panic attacks, time management, low self-esteem, and relationships, with referrals to licensed professionals when needed. Student Clubs and Organizations, guided by the Coordinator of Student Affairs and advisers, provide social and collaborative experiences that foster SEL outside the classroom. Together, these provisions create a campus environment that supports students' social and emotional development.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

SISFU publicly incorporates inclusion for students with disabilities in its Equal Opportunity Policy, which covers disability and mental health difficulties. The institution is described as a transnational university delivering programs through foreign partners, and there is no publicly disclosed dedicated SEN center or specialist SEN unit on current official pages. The Equal Opportunity Policy indicates a commitment to inclusive education, but specific, client-facing SEN supports beyond general inclusion are not detailed on the official pages. Where concerns about SEN might arise, SISFU's Student Support and counseling provisions may provide general accommodation and guidance through counselors and academic staff. The school does not publish a dedicated SEN program or center on official materials.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

SISFU provides explicit EAL support through the English Language Center, offering English Proficiency Program courses for non-native speakers. The program details CEFR level progressions (e.g., introductory Breakthrough and Waystage) and is taught by faculty from the UK, the USA, and the Philippines. A campus-wide 'Speak ENGLISH Policy' promotes English usage in lectures, seminars, and day-to-day interactions. The Student Support page notes that English language training is available for international students and others needing to improve their English. Together, these provisions demonstrate dedicated EAL support within SISFU's offerings.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is supported primarily through SISFU's Student Support services, including Career Counselling that can address emotional and psychological concerns. The Career Counselor discusses issues such as depression, panic attacks, time management, low self-esteem, and relationships, with referrals to licensed professionals when necessary. Counseling services are accessible via appointments, with staff able to initiate referrals as appropriate. In addition, academic support structures and student clubs foster social connections that contribute to overall wellbeing. This integrated approach combines counseling, academic assistance, and peer/club activities to support students' mental health.

Safeguarding

SISFU references safeguarding-related measures in its policies, including alignment with the Anti-Bullying Act (Republic Act No. 10627) within its grading and discipline framework. A Personal Data Protection Notice on the SISFU site outlines how the school protects students' personal information and privacy. These elements indicate safeguarding of student safety and data, even though a dedicated, publicly posted safeguarding policy page is not evident on official pages.
