Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Pines Forest School began in August 2019 with three children, one Forest Leader, and a backpack. It is a British Forest School based on the Scandinavian all-weather model and was pioneered by British OCN-certified Forest School practitioners. Pines is organized into three areas—Pines Forest School, Pines Primary, and Pines Foundation—sharing the same core principles of inclusivity, wellbeing, independence, and positive educational experiences.

Community

Community is at the heart of Pines; relationships between children, educators, families, and the natural world are nurtured. Parents are invited to join for coffee in the mornings to observe the work, and regular free courses are available for those who wish to learn more and participate in the forest community. Our growing community includes forest leaders, park rangers, parents, enthusiasts, specialists, practitioners and pupils.

Pines Forest School in Poland blends British and Polish curricula within a forest learning model. The school operates in three areas: Pines Forest School, Pines Primary and Pines Foundation, serving ages 4 to 15. The core programme blends EYFS with British and Polish curriculum goals, with early years emphasising British targets and a progression toward stronger Polish study by Year 6 Polish Grade 5. Lessons are delivered in very small groups in Learning HUBs and outdoors in the forest, using hands-on experiences to bring subjects to life. The timetable supports literacy, maths, history, geography, science and phonics, plus enrichment such as art and design, woodwork, music, sport, cooking and photography. Language development is supported via CLIL in a bilingual/multilingual setting. Facilities include Learning HUBs with kitchenettes, toilets and showers, plus forest classroom environment, a tool area, wildlife habitats, a pond, a stream and gardens. The day runs 9:00–15:30, near Warsaw.
