Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school states that the successful social and emotional development of each child is only possible with a strong and unique relationship between pupils and their teachers.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school organises Polish as a Foreign Language (PFL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL). PFL classes are mandatory for foreign-language students whose limited knowledge of Polish makes it difficult to communicate in Polish-language classes. EFL classes are compulsory for students whose limited knowledge of English makes it difficult to participate in English-language lessons. An International Class with an English-Language Profile exists, in which classes are conducted mainly in English alongside Polish-language instruction.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is supported through the emphasis on social and emotional development and the close pupil–teacher relationships that underpin the learning environment.

Safeguarding

Polish British Academy of Warsaw recognises its responsibility to protect children. The Safeguarding Policy applies to all staff, governors, pupils, teachers and volunteers and exists to establish and maintain an environment where students feel secure, are encouraged to talk and are listened to.
