Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
1. Enrollment for new students can be completed throughout the year in accordance with current legislation. Families begin by submitting the enrollment form. AIS processes the enrollment form and sends an email to schedule a visit with the Psychology and Guidance Department, where the AIS educational project and admission conditions will be presented. The visit introduces the program and the admission criteria.
2. An in-person visit is arranged after the scheduling email. During the visit, the AIS educational project and admission conditions are presented in detail. The visit constitutes the subsequent step in the enrollment process.
3. The student's enrollment is completed after an in-person visit to the school, upon completion and signing of the necessary enrollment documentation. The enrollment fee includes the cost of school insurance. In the event of withdrawal or transfer of the student to another educational institution, the enrollment fee is not refunded. Enrollment, which grants the status of a student at Astoria International School, implies acceptance of the legal rights and duties applicable under the Internal Regulations.
Astoria International School is a private Lisbon school offering Cambridge Primary and Secondary curricula for ages 0–15. The campus sits in Lisbon with 600 m² of indoor space and 450 m² of outdoor areas, including a library, a laboratory, an arts studio and dedicated sports facilities. AIS emphasises bilingual and multilingual education: English-Portuguese instruction from Nursery to 2nd year of 1st Cycle, then German in 3rd and 4th years, and French from 5th year. The school applies a modern, student-centred pedagogy inspired by the Modern School Movement and Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, with a focus on practical, active learning, autonomy and inclusion. The Educational Project foregrounds respect for diversity, literacy and future skills, delivered through active methodologies, personalised support and language opportunities linked to Cambridge and Trinity assessments. The mission is to form global children prepared for a changing world, within a family environment in Lisbon for life.
