Cesário Verde International School Portugal is part of the SEK International Institution (IES) group, which has 130 years of history in education. The SEK network began international expansion in the 1980s, opening SEK International Schools in countries such as Chile in 1982 and Ecuador in 1984, with further expansions in the region. In 2022 Cesário Verde International School was acquired by SEK, integrating into the SEK/IES network. The school offers nursery to 9th grade and is located in central Lisbon. It is part of IES and accredited by Cambridge Assessment English.
The school is bilingual from Kindergarten, fostering an international perspective. It offers international programmes with exchanges in the United Kingdom and United States, and InterSEK sporting and cultural events that bring students from SEK schools together. A Real Madrid Foundation Soccer Clinic is offered, providing a one-week immersive training experience in Madrid with values-based coaching.
Cesário Verde International School Portugal offers nursery through 9th grade in central Lisbon as part of the SEK/IES International Education Systems. The school follows the Portuguese Ministry of Education framework while delivering a bilingual experience from Kindergarten and introducing a second language from an early age. Learning is organized around collective, innovative, participatory and differentiated projects that foster collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving. Technology is embedded across lessons, with interactive whiteboards, iPads, robotics and programming materials, plus access to the IXL online platform. The school is accredited by Cambridge Assessment English and offers Cambridge programmes at Primary and Secondary levels. Facilities include a 3,000 m2 main building with core classrooms, art rooms, a gym, auditorium, library and study spaces, plus dedicated nursery spaces and extensive outdoor areas with a river-view playground and a vegetable garden. International exchanges in the UK and USA connect students with SEK/IES schools across 17 countries.
