The Braga International School provides an academically rigorous program with a cross-cultural character and a modern atmosphere that integrates new technologies. The curricular programme is designed to achieve equivalency with the Portuguese educational system and with international schools, facilitating access to university in Portugal or abroad. The school emphasises cognitive development and high-order thinking to prepare students for the intricacies of a post-modern society. In Forms 9–12, students follow Cambridge International Examinations (IGCSE) and later prepare for AICE exams.
All pupils participate in extra-curricular activities that develop creativity and the arts, including music, plastic arts and drama, alongside sports. The extra-curricular programme is organised through CLIBclubs and complements classroom experiences. These activities emphasize creativity, artistic expression, movement and communication.
The school welcomes students from multicultural and multilingual backgrounds, and English is the principal language used in the majority of classes. Students gain proficiency in Portuguese and familiarity with Portugal's history, culture and geography. Spanish is a third language and is compulsory from Form 5.
After-school extra-curricular activities are organised through CLIBclubs. These activities focus on the development of creativity and arts, body and movement, and sports. They provide opportunities for participation in music, drama and other expressive pursuits.
The mission states that CLIB aims to prepare students to be literate, competent, educated, skilled, informed citizens. They should be capable of critical thinking and problem solving and able to meet the challenges of a complex, interdependent and pluralistic world. The learning community is described as democratic, just and liberating, with students, faculty, parents and associates collaborating to learn from experience and to excel in whatever they do.
The program recognises the holistic nature of human knowledge and the interconnectedness of all disciplines. It reinforces this approach by integrating research projects, thematic work and other elements of the educational plan. Extra-curricular activities include movement and sport as part of a well-rounded development.
CLIB - The Braga International School offers education for ages 3 to 18 in Braga, Portugal, delivering a British-based curriculum with Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS/A Levels (AICE Diploma). English is the principal language of teaching, with Portuguese guiding languages for the curriculum; Spanish is compulsory from Form 5. Lower and Early Upper School follow the English National Curriculum, while the Upper School aligns with Cambridge examinations to facilitate university access in Portugal and abroad. Founded in 1999, CLIB is coed, non-denominational institution within a Lusinternational network and maintains connections with ECIS, emphasizing equivalency with national and international education systems.
