Based in the heart of Lisbon's Restelo district, L'École Trilingue serves pupils aged 2 to 11. It was born of a partnership between Laurent Batut, founder of L'école bilingue in London, and Turenne Consulting, expanding the founders' bilingual education model to Portugal. It builds on the success of its sister school in London, L'école bilingue, which is accredited by the French Ministry for Education and a partner of AEFE. L'École Trilingue provides immersion teaching in English, French and Portuguese, with half the day taught in English and half in French, and Portuguese taught for 30–45 minutes per day. The teaching is accredited by the French Ministry for Education and certified by the Portuguese Ministry.
We are committed to building a nurturing, inclusive, trilingual school. The school community embraces cultural diversity, celebrates differences and practices mutual respect, and staff are considered an extended family. Pupils grow in a safe, multilingual setting with close collaboration with parents to prepare them for primary school. Pupils gain confidence and autonomy and enhance their language skills by learning in English, French and Portuguese.
Situated in Lisbon's Restelo district, L'École Trilingue serves pupils aged 2 to 11 with a trilingual immersion programme in English, French and Portuguese. The school follows the French curriculum for the Early Years Foundation Stage, organized around five areas of learning: language, physical and artistic expression, thinking and learning tools, and world exploration. Portuguese is taught daily for 30-45 minutes, and the school day is split between English and French instruction. The teaching is accredited by the French Ministry for Education and certified by the Portuguese Ministry, reflecting a cross-border partnership with France and Portugal and linking to the sister school in London. Housed in a refurbished 1940s building, classrooms are bright and arranged to support group work, personalised teaching, and sensorial exploration. A large garden supports biodiversity education and offers a Pre-nursery zone for 2-3 year olds. Breakfast and after-school care run beyond hours; offerings vary yearly in Lisbon.
