Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Al Maha Academy for Girls is part of Ta'allum Group, alongside two other academies, and comprises Infant, Junior, and Secondary sections under a unified governance structure. The Ta'allum Group operates AMAG within a three‑school network, with each section led by its own head. The Al Maha Academy brand originated in 1999 to provide high‑quality education in Qatar, with separate campuses for boys and girls. AMAG is accredited by Qatar National School Accreditation (QNSA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The Primary school serves just over 1,000 students and the Secondary section just over 500, with more than 250 staff in total.

Community

The AMAG community comprises three schools—Infant, Junior, and Secondary—sharing a single campus and overarching Ta'allum Group governance. The Parents' Committee Council (PCC) works with school leadership to engage families and guide policy, with aims that include supporting learners, teachers, and parents and communicating views to the Principal and Board of Management. The PCC meets monthly and consults with the Principal/Vice Principal (PCSL) and the Board of Management bi‑annually. The PCC also participates in joint initiatives with other Ta'allum Group Parents' Committees and supports the national vision for student leadership. Student life emphasizes clubs, leadership opportunities, and cultural events, complemented by regular News & Events and a school calendar to keep the community informed.

Parent-Teacher Association

The Parents' Committee Council (PCC) is the formal PTA body for AMAG, comprising dedicated parents who work closely with school leadership. The PCC aims to assist in advancing the school's Mission, Objectives and Learner Outcomes, inform and consult on policy, and communicate parents' views to the Principal and Board of Management. The PCC operates through a Parents Committee Senior Leader (PCSL), typically the Vice Principal/Principal, and meets monthly, with bi‑annual consultations with representatives from the Board of Management. The PCC's work mechanism includes monthly meetings, with recommendations decided by majority and the chair's vote prevailing in the event of a tie. The PCC is part of the Ta'allum Group network of Parents' Committees and collaborates on joint initiatives with other Ta'allum schools' committees, pursuing broader involvement in the national vision and student leadership.
