AWIS is a British‑managed international primary school in north Doha, established in 2014 to serve international families. It offers a UK‑style education for children aged 3–11 and draws students from more than 50 nationalities. The EYFS curriculum is delivered in English by UK‑qualified teachers. The school is located in Zone 66, Street 745, Dohat Al Khaima Street in the Leqtaifiya/West Bay Lagoon area of Doha. In 2024–25, AWIS received a White Flag certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for no complaints or violations, and the MOEHE accorded AWIS an excellent School Report Card for 2024–25.
AWIS emphasizes a caring, international learning community that engages all stakeholders and welcomes input and feedback from the broader community. Friends of AWIS is a volunteer association of parents who share ideas and employ their diverse skills to enrich school life, meeting periodically with senior staff to discuss development and ways to contribute. Family Fun Day is the annual school fair and a major calendar event, featuring activities, competitions, and a wide range of international food stalls and arts & crafts stalls for students and parents. The Student Leaders comprise the Head Boy and Head Girl and deputies, representing the student body and sometimes leading guided school tours; they undertake tasks around the school to build leadership skills.
The school's PTA is called Friends of AWIS, a volunteer association of parents. Friends of AWIS serves to share ideas and utilise parents' diverse skills to enrich school life and student learning opportunities, with periodic meetings attended by a selection of senior staff to discuss the school's development and further opportunities to contribute. As an AWIS parent, membership offers a concrete way to be involved in how the school runs and develops. The group meets throughout the year to plan and support school initiatives, and it coordinates with staff on broader development goals. Family Fun Day is a PTA‑aligned community event that draws the wider AWIS community together with food stalls and arts & crafts stalls. The association exists to foster a strong home–school relationship and to ensure parent input informs planning and decision‑making. The structure and activities of Friends of AWIS are designed to leverage parental expertise and involvement in school life.
