Doha College was founded in 1980 to provide a British-style education in Qatar and operates as a not-for-profit international school. The Al Waab campus served as the school's home from 1988 until 2020, while the West Bay campus hosted younger pupils from 2013 to 2020. In 2018, Doha College became the first High Performance Learning (HPL) World Class Award School. Construction of a new, state-of-the-art Al Wajba campus began with a ground-breaking in 2018 and the campus opened in September 2020 to mark the college's 40th anniversary. The school has grown to educate thousands of pupils from dozens of nationalities, reflecting a long-standing commitment to British education in Qatar.
Doha College maintains a dynamic school community that includes pupils, staff, and parents who collaborate to strengthen ties with the wider Qatar community. The school's community activities include Friends of Doha College (FDC), the DC Race, and events organized by the Charities Committee, which foster belonging, collaboration, and public service. Alumni networks connect former students through the DC Alumni Network, supporting mentorship and ongoing engagement with current pupils. The college hosts and participates in events such as the Qatar School Choir of the Year, and runs charitable campaigns like Pink Day and Jeans for Genes to support health and disability causes.
Friends of Doha College (FDC) is the parent committee that partners with the school to support pupils and programs. The FDC coordinates fundraising, events, and volunteering opportunities alongside staff and pupils. It has organized or supported events such as Day for Palestine, with proceeds directed to Qatar Charities for Palestine. The FDC works with the Charities Committee to run campaigns including Pink Day and Jeans for Genes, raising funds for cancer research and genetic disorders. Parent involvement through the FDC helps shape school life, contribute to resource development, and strengthen the home–school partnership. The FDC and related parent networks collaborate with the college leadership to plan activities that benefit a wide range of school and community initiatives.
