Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The English Modern School Doha was established in 1991 as a private, proprietary international school and is part of The Al-Muftah Group of Companies. It operates under a MOEHE license in Qatar's private education sector and is a member of the Council of International Schools. EMS is an authorized Cambridge University International Exams and Edexcel centre and holds accreditation from QNSA and NEASC. The school follows the Cambridge Curriculum in its primary and secondary programs, with English as the language of instruction. The school serves a population of over 40 nationalities and employs a diverse international faculty.

Community

The Doha campus hosts a multicultural community with students from over 55 nationalities. Qatar National Day celebrations feature student performances, Ardah dances, dramatic reenactments, and other activities that celebrate heritage. Year 1 Family Day brings parents onto the school field for a family picnic and joint activities to strengthen home–school links. Cross-campus STEAM workshops and campaigns such as anti-bullying week illustrate active engagement by students, families, and staff.

Parent-Teacher Association

Public materials do not list a formal Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for EMS Doha; however, parent involvement is evident through events and campaigns described in school communications. Year 1 Family Day on the Doha campus involved parents and families in a field-day setting with a focus on connection and activities. Qatar National Day celebrations feature student performances and community participation, reflecting strong home–school partnerships. Anti-bullying Week campaigns highlight ongoing collaboration with families to promote safety and well-being. The EMS network has hosted cross-school STEAM workshops that connect students, families, and staff in hands-on learning experiences. These examples illustrate a culture of parent engagement within the EMS community, even in the absence of a publicly listed standalone PTA.
